plum blossoms

Here is our own tree of plum blossoms.  I think this is kind of early for them to be blooming.  Last year we harvested them and made plum pickles (sweet not sour).  We have enough to last for years so this year's havest MIL can make her sour pickles!  Below is a neighbor's tree in bloom.  Japanese call them Ume but the translation can be either plum or apricot.  Actually not like either in my history!

They are early! I've noticed a few blossoms around here, but we are further south than you. I've been trying to find a recipe for sweet pickled plums (the ones I've eaten are squishy and made with honey?) - any chance you could share it with me?

Sure. But the plums are actually different for the hard candy ones and the soft umesh. I found that out now after 3 years of trying to get the crispy ones. What you have to do is freeze them after they have aged. Then they are delicious. I'll check my recipe and post it to you privately if you wish. I think you can find my email address on the AFWJ directory.
