With my scrap blue, green, & white pieces I'm making a patchwork spread. Do you think it would look nicer to sew them together as a solid patchwork like above, or should I put in some running strips? I'm also thinking to buy some solid blue and make a ruffle around the edge and bottom and buy enough for strips. Any ideas? The last photo is a quilt I did years ago that is on my king sized bed.

Your sooo skilled your patchwork`s look beautiful! Personally i prefer the patchwork with running strips as i like a more simple finish but of course a solid looking patchwork is more traditional (but i am no expert here :P)
lovely colors. I like the way the colors are arranged in the top picture better.
looks like a fun project.

i am a strong believer in the power of red and blue....
how would you feel about red strips between the blocks....
i also like it just plain , all the blocks sewn together with no strips.....
check out my blog....to see how red looks in a quilt...

Thanks for giving me more ideas. I'll post the photo of the result when I finish--who knows when. I'm kind of waiting to see if either of my dil want it and then I'll finish it to their specification. One fun one I did before marriage was shaped like a star--forgot where it disappeared to. I go in cycles. I grew up watching my mother tie quilts she had put together for the welfare work of the church--anyone who burned out or was too poor got one. I have a cousin who makes my work look sick! She has quilt showings of her creations. Her name is Karen Hagen, if anyone knows her?
