Richter gang

Here is the group of us posing for our family photo shot.   This was the first reunion I've been to where there were many family members who were not blood Richters.  To join our family takes only the desire and some in-law/out-law connection.  Children of previous marriages and their children were also welcomed.  We feel anyone who has a connection and shows up for 3 days must have some hidden Richter Blood!

When we entered there were 3 jars of things for us to guess how many were inside: beans, candy, lentils.  At the final meeting, Yvonne announced the winners and gave them the jars. Joyce, Rene and Mike were the winners.  We were all amazed at the numbers as most of us were way under.

Below is Millie during the business meeting about the future of our reunions.  This is quite a task since the first generation is gone and the second is dwindling and that leaves us the 3rd to carry on.  Those attending all agree we want to continue and wish the rest of our family would come, but have to realize that such far relatives probably will never get too interested.

Talent show participants were also volunteer performers who showed us their skills.  Above is Josh catching M&Ms tossed into the air by his sister.

Another of our Reunion traditons is a talent show.  Our hostess, Yvonne here is the MC and comes out as Minnie Pearle.  She did a great job.  Below my sons are singing an Everly Brothers favorite.

Slide

The children enjoyed this slide more than any other attraction there.  Here Lydia, Cassandra, Aaron and Joshua are trying to make a train.

Reunion/food/games

Yvonne did a wonderful job of preparing 3 meals a day.  Buffet service was in this tent.

One tradition of reunions is to gather around a table and play Train To Mexico.  Each family has their own optional rules.  Here we played by Josh's rules.  He's the guy in blue and also had the highest score (loser!) 

Aunt B

One of the highlights of every summer is spending time with my mother's only living sister, Vivien Lorraine, fondly known to us as Auntie B.  Here I am with her and my only living girl first cousin LolaMae.  Auntie B is 92 and sharp as can be, but confined to a wheel chair since her broken hip was rebroken and fixed to only be free of pain.  She managed to come up to the reunion several hours as her home is only a short distance from the reunion spot.
